Final conference on Strengthening the Social Dimension of Higher Education in the EHEA

On March 25, 2025, the final conference of the Erasmus+ project ‘PLAR-U-PAGs’ (Peer Learning Activities and Resources to Underpin the Principles and Guidelines for Social Dimension) took place in Brussels, Belgium.

This conference marked the end of a three-year cycle in which this project significantly contributed to the development and implementation of policies regarding the social dimension in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

With a diverse audience of Flemish, EU and non-EU higher education institutions, ministries of education, international organisations and above all students, the conference was a success.

This event offered a forum for various stakeholders in (the social dimension of) higher education, with the student voice being at the very heart of it. Students did not only engage in policy discussions, but were also given the chance to talk about the obstacles they encountered in higher education, as well as the successes they achieved. Their experiences were an absolute added value to the relevance and importance of the conference.

The conference also provided an opportunity to showcase the instruments that had been developed throughout the project. These were met with great enthusiasm by the audience.

Together, the project partners (the Flemish and Croatian Ministries of Education and Training, the European Students' Union, and the Institute for the Development of Education [Zagreb]) succeeded in creating an operational framework that will support ministries of education and higher education institutions in 47 EHEA countries in effectively implementing the 10 principles for the social dimension.
